As the oldest of eight, with her seven minor siblings still in foster care, Halle is striving to create a better life for herself. She has successfully transitioned from homelessness into an apartment through a supportive program. She's been working hard to maintain her independence. However, with ongoing car troubles and the constant challenge of keeping up with daily expenses, she finds herself unable to afford a basic necessity – a bed. Her previous bed is broken and torn apart and is no longer usable. This situation not only affects her physical comfort but also serves as a daily reminder of the hardships she and her family have endured, including the traumatic experience of losing everything during their eviction. The significance of a bed for Halle extends far beyond physical comfort; it symbolizes stability and a step forward in rebuilding her life.
Halle is 20 years old and lives in GA
At 19, Halle is a high school graduate who has faced more than her share of life's challenges. Her battle with cancer, coupled with her family's struggle with housing instability and their fight against poverty didn't diminish Halle's spirit or cause her to lose her joy. Amidst these struggles, Halle's commitment to her family shines the brightest. She has been a support for her mother and her siblings, providing care and strength in their most challenging times while they have struggled with poverty and homelessness, especially to her two siblings with special needs. Her dedication to her education, even securing an internship with the District Attorney speaks volumes about her ambition. She has been accepted into Kennesaw State University and will start next fall. Her dream is to be a defense attorney to stand up for justice for families who don't have the resources to pay for it. Her desire is to make a positive impact in the world.
