An iPad for Kerry to stay connected with her siblings when she moves away

Posted Nov 21, 2024
Kerry is filled with excitement as she prepares for a significant change in her life—moving in with a relative who will be adopting her. This new beginning offers her hope and warmth, yet it also brings the bittersweet challenge of being four hours away from her beloved siblings. To bridge the distance and maintain those precious connections, Kerry has her heart set on an iPad. She sees it as more than just a gadget; it’s a lifeline that will allow her to FaceTime her brothers and sisters, sharing smiles and laughter despite the miles in between. Beyond keeping in touch, the iPad will also serve as an invaluable tool for her homework, helping her excel in her studies as she embarks on this exciting new journey. Kerry is ready to embrace her future, and with the right tools, she can cherish her past too.

Kerry is 15 years old and lives in NC

Since entering court custody with her sister and two brothers, Kerry has experienced eight placements and will soon be moved to her ninth. She enjoys reading mysteries and historical fiction. She hasn't yet decided what she wants to do when she grows up, as she feels she hasn't had much time to experience a normal childhood. Therefore, she wants to focus on being a regular kid for a while!

"Dear Kerry, I hope this IPad helps you stay in touch with your siblings. I am also a fan of mysteries- I fell in love with them reading Agatha Christie mysteries. I hope you can use the IPad to also check out ebooks from your library! Change is always hard and you've already dealt with more changes than most do Ina lifetime, but the love between you and your siblings, and your desire to excel will see you through! Keep on reading, keep of reading, keep on achieving!"
