Updated: January 2023

At One Simple Wish, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner. As part of the normal operation of our services, we may need to collect personal information about those who visit our website and those that complete forms or transactions.. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect and what may happen to that information.

Donors

For those who choose to sign up for an account or donate on our website, we collect some information about you in order to facilitate our program. Please know that we will never sell, give away or trade your information to other partners.

We collect the following information when we receive donations from payment processors: First name, last name, email address, street address, state, zip, donation amount and donation designation. Payments are processed using third-party services. Credit card information is never retained on our servers.

If you grant a wish or make a donation on our website, we will use your email address and name to send you transactional emails, including receipts and wish updates.

If you give to a Giving Page, we may share anonymized information such as the states where donations came from. We never share personal information about individual donations or donors with anyone but the donor.

Website Usage

In order to use certain services provided on the site you may need to register with us either as a donor (Wish Granter) or Community Partner (Wish Maker). When you register, we will gather information such as your name, company name, mailing address, phone number and email address.

We may also track certain information about how you use our website. In the course of using our site, we automatically track certain information about you. This information may include the URL that you came from (whether this URL is on our site or not), which URL you go to next (whether this URL is on our site or not), what browser you are using, and your Internet Protocol (IP) address. This is a common practice and many sites automatically collect this information.

How Do We Use It?

We use your information in a number of ways. For example, we conduct internal research on our user’s demographics and site usage to better understand how effective our site is and how to improve it.

If you opt in to receive emails from us, we will never share or sell your information to another business or individual. If you wish to unsubscribe at any time you may do so by clicking on the unsubscribe link in an email or by emailing us at [email protected].

If you grant a wish, you will automatically receive “transaction-based” emails, including a confirmation that the wish has been granted and, if you have registered, a note when the wish has been fulfilled, received and when a thank-you note has been posted.

Should we need to use your information for a purpose other than noted above, we will contact you in advance of this action and obtain your permission.

How Do We Protect Your Information?

We use industry standard technology and efforts to safeguard the confidentiality of your personal identifiable information. These include secure servers and firewalls. All of the user data we collect is protected against unauthorized access. Only authorized employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to this information.

Personal information about individuals who submit wishes through Community Partners will never be shared with any donors or other Community Partners without clear, expressed consent from the individual.
