Emily currently lives in a group home, separate from her adoptive mother. When Emily was in middle school, her adopted mother suffered a stroke, which led to difficulties with dementia, aphasia, and self-care. As a result, Emily struggled to reside with her and ultimately entered foster care at the age of 15. She hopes to become a cosmetologist or a marine veterinarian one day.
