Amaiya entered the foster care system at the age of sixteen after both of her parents passed away—one from cancer and the other from an unexpected heart attack, two years apart. Following this, she was separated from her siblings, who both live in California. She has been trying to rebuild her relationship with them, but the distance makes it challenging.
