Willow has endured severe trauma from tragic physical abuse throughout her young life. Currently living in an institutional care facility, she faces the challenges of healing from deep emotional scars without a caregiver to provide the love and patience she desperately needs. At this young age, the environment is especially hard for her. Struggling to relate to other children, Willow seeks to connect with the professionals who care for her, longing for the nurturing attachments that are absent from her life. Compounding her emotional burden is the separation from her little brother, the only family member who stood by her in their darkest hours. In an effort to find some normalcy, Willow participates in a recreation sports league near her care facility. However, the experience is bittersweet; while her teammates are cheered on by their parents and extended family, she only has her social work team in the stands, supporting her from a distance. This stark difference heightens her feelings of isolation and highlights the love and connection that are missing from her life.
