Annalys is a sweet, strong, and resilient young woman who has had to prove her strength many times in her life. Over the past year, she and her mother have faced significant challenges, including losing their apartment after five years due to the landlord's neglect. They lived in an apartment without heat or hot water while facing frigid temperatures of 17 degrees outside. After the upstairs neighbors moved out, they also had a major mouse infestation as the pests sought food and warmth. For the past year, Annalys and her mom have been bouncing between the homes of two relatives, sleeping on couches. Despite these difficulties, Annalys has continued attending school, commuting daily from Boston to Plymouth. She has maintained honor roll status, been recognized as a role model in her school, and often reminds her team that as long as she and her mom have each other, everything else will fall into place. After 11 months of relentless searching, Annalys and her mom have finally secured a new apartment! This means she no longer has to leave home in Boston by 5:30 AM to make it to school in Plymouth, only to return after 6 PM. Due to the mouse issue in their previous apartment, they had to throw out almost everything they owned. Now, her mom is starting from scratch, with just three bags of clothing between the two of them.
