In the U.S., there are over 400,000 children in the foster care system at any given time. About 20,000 youth age out of the foster care system each year, often without adequate support. After aging out, nearly 25% of former foster youth become homeless within a few years.
Foster children are at a higher risk of educational instability, with only about 50% graduating high school compared to their peers. Investing in their well-being can break the cycle of poverty and instability, leading to more positive outcomes for society as a whole.
