Ashley was born to parents who both had mental health disorders and developmental delays. When she was 14 her father was diagnosed with a terminal brain disease and passed away only eight months later. Her mother was unable to care for her and her sister and they ended up in foster care. Living in a group home she graduated from high school and went on to college where she graduated with her degree in Psychology. She has done a lot with her life, including joining the military, getting married, and having beautiful children of her own. She is currently working in hospice to help others through their grief. She received her Master's in Social work in May 2022. and hopes to advocate for children in foster care, as her team advocated for her.

Ashley receives the gift from Foster Alumni Mentors!
"Thank you sooo much One Simple Wish for granting my wish for the Ed Sheeran concert! It was the perfect way to end an emotional weekend. I had attended the National ILA conference with FAM and it brought up a lot of emotions from my own foster experience. This was not a bad thing; I believe it is good to process those feelings as they come up. So being able to attend a concert with others who have lived experience in foster care and have a wonderful organization (OSW) grant the wish of going, was such an amazing experience. I am so grateful to your organization and all the wonderful things you do for the foster care population. So thank you!! I say it all the time how I wish (OSW) was a thing when I was in care. There was so many things and events I missed out on due to financial reasons while I was in foster care. This resulted in me feeling even more “weird” and I felt like it placed a spot light over me that I was a foster kid. I love seeing all of the kids you have a positive impact on, on social media. You guys are AMAZING and thank you again!! My words cannot express how grateful I am for OSW and FAM! Love, Ashley"
