A laptop for Matthew to read his favorite comic book series and connect with family

Posted May 24, 2024
Matthew was gifted with a laptop for his birthday at the end of last year, and shortly after getting it, it was stolen by another youth at the group home. This was devastating for Matthew as he had just downloaded his favorite computer games, Roblox and Fortnite. Recently, a relative entered his life, and they are working on building a relationship. We are hoping that this becomes a possible placement option. The relative sent Matthew a flash drive with comic books downloaded on it so that he could read his favorite comics. The relative didn't realize that Matthew no longer had a laptop. This wish would serve multiple purposes as Matthew could read his favorite comic books and video chat with his relative. This time, we will ensure that the group home places the laptop in Matthews's locker when he is not using it.

Matthew is 16 years old and lives in FL

Matthew is an extraordinary young man who is currently living in a residential/therapeutic facility. Being in the foster care system for almost five years has been very tough on Matthew, but he continues to have a positive attitude and always has a joke to share.

Matthew receives the gift from Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County!

"Dear wish granter, This gift came at the perfect time. Matthew was beyond excited when he received the laptop. Not only has he been able to communicate with his family members and read comic books, but he has been working on studying and completing his permit test. He wasn't able to do this before because it required a laptop or computer, and they don't have one accessible to him at the group home. He has also been working on his summer classes. This was a much needed item! Thank you so much for purchasing this for him."
