A basketball for Keyri to use for her first year playing at school

Posted Aug 30, 2024
Keyri is a joyful and energetic student who is so excited to be playing basketball at school for the first time. Keyri and her mom recently moved into transitional housing and have not been able to afford the "luxuries" of recreational or wellness outlets. Keyri wants to own her own basketball so she can play more often with her friends!

Keyri is 10 years old and lives in NJ

Keyri has a smile that can light up a room and loves school, especially reading, English, and art. Keyri has a new-found love of basketball which is a great outlet for all of her energy. And she is almost as tall as her mom already! She loves to draw and create art, and even had her drawings exhibited recently in a community art show. Keyri and her mom have lived for 2 years in a single room in a boarding house before entering into transitional housing. Even though she’s so young, she tells her mom that she knows she can’t afford to buy her the brand-name clothes, shoes and gear that her classmates have.
