Currently, she relies on her phone and the school library for her academic needs. Due to her inability to drive, she depends on others for transportation, which makes getting to school a challenge. Having a laptop at home would provide her with the independence to manage her own schedule and academic work without relying on others. Without this essential tool, Meel faces significant obstacles in pursuing her education and achieving her full potential.
Meel is 20 years old and lives in NM
Meel is a determined person who has struggled with finding a home. She was left alone by her parents and was adopted at the age of 5. Her parents struggled to stay together, and she was left in another state with no caregiver at the age of 14. Meel found herself struggling with her intellectual disability and visual impairment, and she had to find her own way through the system. She was in multiple placements and aged out at 18. With the help of her worker and therapist, she completed her high school education, and they became her biggest support. Meel recently moved into her first apartment and is now enrolled in college. She wants to pursue social work to help youth like her.
