Electric scooter for Santos so he can get home from school quickly and safely

Posted Oct 4, 2024
Santos lives alone in a less fortunate area in the Bay Area. He has expressed his deep sense of unease and fear when he walks home from BART (local transportation). Santos relies on BART for school, ILSP, church, and all of his extracurricular activities to better his future. A scooter would not only help him get home a little faster, but it would also provide him with a greater sense of safety and security as he returns to his residence, alleviating some of the fear and anxiety he experiences on his journey home.

Santos is 17 years old and lives in CA

Santos has had quite a journey to get to where he is today. He came to this country alone at a very young age and lived with a distant relative, which turned out to be a traumatic and abusive situation. Despite the challenges, Santos traveled to SF as a child and now lives alone with no family. He is working hard to obtain his GED and finds solace in attending church on Saturdays and Sundays. Santos is also involved with ILSP and has a very involved CASA. However, his day-to-day life is difficult as he is still learning English. Santos has a kind heart and has endured so much at a young age while facing everything alone.
