A Jordan backpack for Trey to fit in at his new school

Posted Oct 18, 2024
Trey recently entered foster care and started at a new school, facing the challenges of fitting in. He carries a used backpack that shows signs of wear and has noticeable holes, which makes him feel different from his peers. When asked if he wanted anything, he mentioned needing school supplies, specifically a red Jordan backpack. He believes this would help him connect with others and feel more confident, as it would align him with the style of his classmates. Trey has already found it difficult to explain why he isn’t with his family, and he hopes that having this backpack will lessen the feeling of exclusion at a time when middle school can be particularly tough.

Trey is 12 years old and lives in CA

Trey is currently in foster care and has just started at a new school, where he feels a mix of excitement and nerves about starting over and living with new people. Despite his apprehensions, he enjoys his new environment and hopes to settle in for the long term. While he hasn't yet figured out his favorite class, he finds joy in art. Trey is known for being very polite when interacting with adults, and his sense of humor makes it easy for him to connect with others and bring a smile to their faces. Ultimately, he’s looking forward to embracing this new chapter of his life while holding on to his passion for basketball.

"Another wish you granted for my students! Thank you so much for doing this. These essential items mean so much to them. Trey loved it and said it made him feel special that someone granted his wish. Trey's bio-mom actually called me to tell you "Thank you for doing that for my son!" She said Trey was so excited that he brought it to their visitation to show if off."
