A bike for Marcos who wants to exercise and ride to school
Marcos, 18 years old

CEDARS Youth ServicesMarcos has faced significant challenges in his life. After being removed from his home due to physical abuse from his grandfather, he now lives with foster parents. Struggling to fit in at his new school, he finds it hard to communicate in English. His favorite color is white, and he enjoys exercising and playing soccer, though he doesn’t support any particular team. He also feels pressured by his biological mother in Guatemala to send money home, which adds to his stress. Despite these challenges, his foster parents remind him to focus on being a kid, going to school, and choosing to work if he wants.
Marcos is eager to find a positive activity after school, as he wants to exercise more and start going to the gym regularly. To achieve this, he realizes that getting a bike would be beneficial. A bike would not only help him reach the gym faster but also give him the opportunity to ride around the block for additional exercise. On nice days, he can even ride his bike to school, which would be especially helpful since his foster parent doesn’t have a driver’s license. This plan aligns perfectly with his fitness goals and provides him with a greater sense of independence and well-being.
