Ismaael came to America with dreams of a better life, but the transition was overwhelming. The fast-paced city felt vast and impersonal, and the language and customs left him feeling small and unsure. Yet, despite these challenges, Ismaael was determined to build a future for himself. His family was always in his thoughts, and he missed the closeness they once shared. Since being placed in care, the emotional distance between them had grown, leaving him longing to restore that connection. Even when the pressure felt overwhelming, he never gave up. He found comfort in hobbies like cooking, where he could experiment with new flavors and recreate tastes that reminded him of home. Cooking became a source of comfort and a way for him to feel connected to his roots. Riding his bike through the streets of the city became another form of therapy, a way to clear his mind and regain a sense of freedom. Spending time with friends helped him feel less isolated, as he built a support network that made him feel less alone. In addition to his hobbies, Ismaael displayed a remarkable level of self-discipline. He worked hard to balance his responsibilities, juggling school, work, and his personal goals. He dreamed of becoming fully independent, and every small step, whether it was learning to drive, trying new things, or working on his skills, brought him closer to that reality.
