Katie was adopted when she was eight years old. Because she is a part of the LGBT community, her adoptive mother wanted her to be removed from their home. Additionally, Katie had bruises from where her stepfather physically abused her. Despite her difficult experiences, Katie loves animals and has a great sense of humor. She is currently working on finishing high school and enjoys exploring new places.

Katie has been diligently focusing on her mental health while navigating the challenges of moving to a new home and starting at a new school. As she works to catch up on her credits, the pressure of being significantly behind has added to her stress.
