Peter is a recent graduate who wants to make a difference in education. As a former foster youth, a first-generation college graduate, and a Latino who has faced incarceration, he has overcome many challenges to reach his academic goals and improve his life. Even though he was accepted into a Ph.D. program at UC Riverside, financial problems prevented him from continuing. This setback has motivated him even more to help others with similar backgrounds succeed. Peter wants to inspire and mentor students from underrepresented and marginalized communities, encouraging them to pursue higher education. He hopes to work in roles where he can help students succeed, such as an EOP STEM advisor, Guardian Scholars Program advisor, Rising Scholars assistant director, MESA Program coordinator, community college engineering professor, or Upward Bound advisor. He plans to use his own experiences to give students the support they need to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Outside of work, Peter enjoys spending time with his dog Max, rollerskating, cooking healthy meals, and helping those in need. His long-term goals include paying off his student loans, buying a home, and continuing to inspire others by showing resilience, determination, and the life-changing impact of education.
