A Trip to Build A Bear for Sandra to build a stuffed friend

Posted Dec 26, 2024
Sandra's journey with mental health has been tough, but she's learning to cope with her emotions. Her sole plushie provides a small measure of comfort, yet she longs for more companionship. What she truly desires is the chance to create a Build-A-Bear — a special plushie that she can personalize and cherish. This bear would symbolize her resilience and serve as a comforting reminder during her hardest days. Granting this wish would help Sandra build a meaningful connection that supports her healing journey. Let’s give her the opportunity to create a friend who will be with her as she navigates her path toward better mental health.

Sandra is 15 years old and lives in CA

Sandra recently entered the foster care system along with her six siblings because their mother was unable to care for them. Life has dealt her a tough hand; she has experienced significant trauma from neglect and abuse. As a result, Sandra struggles with her mental health and has faced thoughts of suicide, grappling with the weight of her experiences. Despite these challenges, she is truly dedicated to her recovery and is actively seeking hope and healing. What shines through most is her ability to smile and laugh with her siblings, whom she loves deeply. Their bond brings her joy and strength. Even with everything she’s been through, Sandra has remained an outstanding student. She dreams of becoming a doctor or a lawyer, motivated to create a better future for herself and her family. Her resilience is inspiring, and she continues to push forward, proving that hope can flourish even in the darkest of times.
