A cell phone for Jose to keep in contact with his siblings

Posted Jan 30, 2025
Jose has spent almost half of his life in foster care and has spent most of those years separated from either all or most of his siblings. Jose is glad that he is able to live with one of his brothers now, but he is still separated from his other brother and his two sisters. Jose uses video games to keep in contact with his brother but does not currently have a reliable way to stay in contact with his siblings. Jose has also begun to earn the privilege of staying home alone for short periods of time and the only thing that he needs to be able to start having time alone is a cell phone so that he can keep in contact with his foster parents. Jose has worked through so many tough situations while in foster care and has put in so much work to overcome the adversity that he's faced, and he really deserves to be able to have the chance to experience independence and the chance to just be a normal teen. Jose has been planning to use his allowance to purchase phone cards to add money to his phone, but the cost of an actual phone is too much for him to cover with his allowance. Jose will be so excited to have this phone as he develops more independence and maintains relationships with is family.
