Thomas loves movies, but he often finds traditional movie experiences to be excessively loud and overwhelming. Fortunately, a local movie theater has introduced Sensory Films, which feature moderated lighting, reduced sound levels, and encourage audience participation through singing and dancing. However, Thomas's father, who is eager to take him to this event during an upcoming visit, has recently lost his job and is experiencing financial pressure that may prevent them from going. This wish would allow Thomas and his dad to enjoy a couple of Sensory Film events together.

Thomas is a loving young boy whose world has recently turned upside down. His family is receiving support from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). He is doing his best to cope with all the transitions he and his mother are experiencing. Although Thomas has multiple developmental disabilities, he views these more as abilities. He loves dinosaurs and enjoys hunting for bugs outside. He is a picky eater but is making a concerted effort to try new foods.
