Lucy wanted to share her beautifully written note about why getting this camera is important to her: "Collecting memories and romanticizing my life has always been a healing experience for me. There are often times that creative blocks are tied to people who have faced traumatic experiences and disassociating from the past can be a form of unhealthy coping. Through the use of photography, I hope to be able to capture the moments during times that I may feel have been difficult and override the story my mind has made up with remembering moments that make me feel good. Due to homelessness and my adverse youth, I was unable to capture most of what my childhood was like. Moving forward, I would love to capture the growth and progress I have made in creating the reality of my dreams. Not only does photography allow for a healing experience, but I am able to express my authentic self and use my creative skills as an advantage. Every time a photo is snapped, it is an experience that has been captured. It is my hope as well, to someday use this hobby as a passive source of income that will support me through any future hardships I may endure and allow myself to combat my anxious tendencies. I hope that my artwork will someday be appreciated and change the lives of many others."
