Growing up Maribel never had an option of choosing what shoes to wear. The majority of the time the shoes she wore were passed down from family members or neighbors. The times that Maribel was blessed with a new pair of shoes was because her parents had saved for months to buy a pair for her and her 4 other siblings. Maribel was grateful for her new shoes but even then, when she was in foster care, she did not have a saying of what shoes to wear. She has been working on her self esteem and not worrying much of what others may think about her appearance. A new pair of shoes gives Maribel some confidence knowing that she has a choice and saying in what she can wear. It gives her a piece of mind knowing that she is in control of who she is and wants to be. She will be so excited to receive this amazing gift this holiday season.
Maribel is 31 years old and lives in CA
Maribel is attending college with a major in Social Work. She is a wonderful mother of three girls. Her hope is to eventually graduate college with her master's degree in Social Work. She hopes that graduating from school and growing as a person can give her daughters inspiration and motivation in life, showing them that anything is possible, even when things get tough. Maribel dreams of one day providing a stable home for her daughters and the ability to provide for their needs and wants. Maribel aspires to graduate college and work with children and families in the community. She hopes to become a Social Worker and work with foster children and families. She wants to be the voice and advocate for many children in the system and families who can’t. She aspires to make a change and touch the lives of many children in need of support.
